Culture and Entertainment
Argos hosts fun family-oriented activities like the July 4th Parade and Movie Night in the Park, a free event sponsored by the Argos Volunteer Fire Department and other non-profit groups that are active in the area. Argos has a Youth League teeball, baseball, and softball program.
Argos Community Park is home to baseball, softball, and soccer fields, playgrounds for the kids, and walking trails for everyone. The walking trails feature a nature trail through wetlands. Anyone can rent a pavilion in the park for family or group events to share a fun day in the park.
The nearest movie theater is in nearby Bremen, and there are several tourist attractions in the region you’ll want to visit. Don’t miss the historic train depot in Bremen and the Museum of Culver and Lake Maxinkuckee. If you stop at the Culver and Lake Maxinkuckee Visitor Center, the staff can tell you about all the seasonal activities you’ll find there, like skiing in the winter and swimming in the summer.
You can meander down country roads through Marshall County. This is farm country, and Marshall County has a history of being one of the leading agricultural counties in Indiana.
Careers and Industry
Health professionals will find career opportunities at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth, Community Hospital in Bremen, and Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester, which operates the Argos Medical Center. Several manufacturing companies are located in Argos and surrounding communities, and a variety of retail, clerical, and professional jobs can be found in the area. Schools
Argos Community School ranks as one of the best in the state. Grades K-12 are housed in one building, allowing for a low student-teacher ratio. Argos Community School is home of the Dragons. Boys sports include soccer, basketball, and baseball. Girls sports include volleyball, softball, basketball, and soccer. There is an active music department with a band and a choir.
Culver Academies is a college prep school located about 12 miles from Argos. It includes the Culver Military Academy founded in 1894 and The Culver Girls Academy, which was founded in 1971. The school boasts such well-known alumni as Hal Holbrook and Gene Siskel, from the entertainment world, George Steinbrenner from the sports world, and several congressmen and governors in the political world.
