While there aren’t any stores in Grovertown itself, except for a nearby truck stop and gas station, people here aren’t bothered by it. There are plenty of nearby towns and cities where Grovertown residents can buy groceries, find household items, and anything else they might need. Knox has a variety of stores including a health food store, numerous discount stores, and auto parts stores. Larger cities such as Plymouth or Valparaiso will also provide a larger variety of stores including national chains like Wal-mart as well as a number of locally owned stores.

Culture and Entertainment

Starke County has many places to stop and enjoy nature. The Yellow River runs through the county, the Kankakee River runs along the county line, and there are two beautiful lakes in the area. That kind of landscape makes for many nice places to relax, have fun, and take in the views. Two of the larger lakes here are Koontz Lake and Bass Lake, the playgrounds of the 'rich and famous' during the early 1900s. Railroads brought these visitors from Chicago to Bass Lake. Today, Koontz Lake is still attracting many visitors. Only five miles north of Grovertown, Koontz Lake is near many amenities yet self-contained enough for day-to-day comfort.

There’s indoor fun in Starke County, too. Starke County Historical Society Museum is located in the home of one of the former governors of Indiana. The museum holds three floors of historical memorabilia including agricultural, military items, clothing, decorative items, and toys. Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum offers interesting memorabilia and train rides, too. Kersting’s Motorcycle Museum is a world famous motorcycle museum and store just a couple of miles over the county line into Pulaski County. The grand Starke County courthouse was built in 1897. Tours all the way to the top are given during the Harvest Festival, which is held during the last weekend in August.

Starke County's industrial base is varied with heavy emphasis on steel, related components, plastics, automotive, agricultural, home, and container industries. The Oregon-Davis School Corporation consists of two schools: Oregon-Davis Elementary School and Oregon-Davis Junior/Senior High School. The secondary school, located in Hamlet, is a consolidation of Hamlet and Grovertown high schools.
