If you’re comfortable with a longer drive, your options are almost unlimited. Robinson sits right at the nexus of St. Louis (MO), Louisville (KY) and Indianapolis. When it comes to culture and entertainment, the placement of Robinson once again works in your favor. There is more excitement and culture to be enjoyed in St. Louis, Louisville, and Indianapolis than most people could exhaust in a lifetime. But then again, maybe big city entertainment isn’t your thing. If that’s the case, you’ll be glad to know there are far more peaceful ways to entertain yourself around town. The rivers are a favorite source of entertainment, and there are also many lakes and national parks within a short distance from town. Harmonie State Park is one of the closest options, but you’re not at all far from Green River State Forest or John James Audubon State Park.
The massive (more than 200,000 acres) Hoosier National Forest is a comfortable distance away and enjoys the distinction of being one of the best national parks in the Midwest. From hiking and camping to boating, you’ll find no shortage of natural entertainment here.
Careers and Industry
There are few businesses in Robinson, but that’s because many people who live here commute to the larger cities. Agriculture is naturally a massive concern here in the Indiana heartland, so you shouldn’t have much trouble finding work if you’re trained in agricultural management or machinery. Many choose to commute to the larger nearby cities for opportunity, and there are several options to choose from.
Poseyville and Mt. Vernon are two close cities, and they both have a comfortable amount of industry and commerce. The best option for commuting however is likely going to be the larger city of Evansville. As a nexus for the entire tri-state area, the city offers plenty of work for all kinds of professionals. Four NYSE-traded companies have their official headquarters in Evansville as well as several other global companies on the NASDAQ.
