Sebree lived through a glorious railroad period during in the 1800s, and it’s still possible to find historic homes that represent this period. Of course, many people have moved to the town throughout the years, and many moved here in recent years to find work at the smelter. They brought with them many new styles and attitudes, so you can find newer homes around here including some that have the latest amenities in home design.
It’s a hardworking town, and you can find modest and sturdy homes for affordable prices in many different areas. If you’re planning to work at the smelter, most of the housing market is built around the salaries of the people working there, and there are plenty of options. That is not to say there aren’t any luxurious options scattered about. Depending on your budget and needs, there are many homes that feature the best in comfort, lot size, and amenities.
The homes in Sebree also have access to just about anywhere you want to be in Kentucky or Indiana. US-41 goes through town and can easily take you to Evansville, Henderson, Owensboro, and many other quality locations. Shopping and Dining
Shopping and dining in Sebree is such that it’s not going to be necessary to leave town for your essentials, but the options can be far more interesting at just a short distance out of town. The town is served by a grocery store and more than a few fine restaurants that serve the townspeople and the travelers coming in off the highway.
Where the options begin to get interesting is just north of town in Henderson. Henderson is filled with eateries and shopping destinations, although it also benefits from nearby Evansville, Indiana. Evansville is the largest local hub and should have something to match just about every taste. Owensboro is another option that isn’t more than an hour away and supports a large number of local restaurants and shopping.
Culture and Entertainment
Sebree isn’t low on entertainment, and much of that has to do with the natural bounties that are so close and beloved by the people who live here. Sebree Springs Park, which is almost as large as the town located just southwest of it, is a local favorite for sports and relaxation. This park was once the site of a resort town, and you’ll be able to see why from the first time you visit.
There’s more fun to be found in the surrounding areas, too. Nearby Henderson is built next to the Ohio River and also has many parks and sporting opportunities within the town. A little farther drive will take you to the gargantuan Shawnee National Forest or the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. These are not to be missed if you love outdoor fun.
That isn’t to say there isn’t some fun around Sebree that can’t be experienced without a drive. There are plenty of nice places in town to gather with friends and neighbors to simply unwind. It’s also a relatively active town with a social calendar filled with events that happen throughout the year.
Careers and Industry
This industrious town has a local smelter that is a major employer in the area and frequently posts positions for skilled workers in the factory. There are also plenty of other positions in town that exist because of the smelter from businesses that supply it with materials to businesses that see to the entertainment of the workers. There’s a very cohesive feeling in town because of all the business that is local to the area. Other people choose to commute to larger cities for a variety of different jobs.

Students living in Sebree are supported by the Webster County Schools, which operates under the motto: “We create great possibilities for students.” By all indications this district lives up to that motto. Schools in the district students attend include Clay Elementary, Dixon Elementary, Providence Elementary, Sebree Elementary, Webster County Academy, Webster County Middle School, and Webster County High School.
