Homes for Sale in Chesterfield, Indiana
Chesterfield was organized in 1830. Its first settler, William Dilts, arrived in 1821 and settled on the east side of Mill Creek for about three years and then left the area. A few years later, he came back and built a log house as the first hotel in that part of the county. Next he built a brick house, the first of its kind in the township, near the log house. Mr. Dilts, along with two other men who moved to the area with their families, helped to shape the destiny of Union Township and the whole county with their industriousness.
