Flatwoods Park is a 198-acre county park west of Ellettsville one mile off State Road 46. Ellettsville is the starting point for the Hilly Hundred, a two-day annual bicycle tour.
The Monroe County Fall Festival is held in Ellettsville every September. This popular three-day event attracts more than 50,000 people and has something for everyone with varied exhibits, a kids’ day, a parade, craft booths, food vendors, and plenty of family entertainment.

The Ellettsville and Richland Township area is one the most rapidly developing areas in Monroe County. Two industrial parks house General Electric, Whitestone, U.S. Food Service, Tree of Life, Tasus, Hall Signs, Huntsman Packaging, Griner Engineering, InterArt Distribution/Sunrise Publications, Beasley Produce, among others. The most common industry in the area is manufacturing.

The stone for the rebuilding of the Pentagon was provided by Bybee Stone after the September 11, 2001 attacks. A special limestone panel was signed by the workers in Ellettsville with the inscription: "Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America." – President George W. Bush, Sept. 11, 2001. The town is proud to continue the tradition of “Building American History.”
Schools
Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corporation includes Edgewood Primary School, Stinesville Elementary School, Edgewood Intermediate School, Edgewood Junior High School, and Edgewood High School. The corporation’s mission is to work in cooperation with the community and families to provide students with an education that promotes responsible citizenship, develops critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. Students study a comprehensive curriculum, and integrated technology is used to enhance classroom instruction.
Extracurricular activities help produce well-rounded students. High school groups include the Masqued Crafters theater group, Music Warehouse, Sophisticated Ladies, New Edition show choirs, and the Marching Mustangs. Edgewood High School was 1997 Indiana State Champions in Academic Super Bowl in Social Studies. Graduates can choose to attend the Indiana State University (Terre Haute), Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute), Indiana University-Bloomington, DePauw University (Greencastle), or a number of other colleges and universities located throughout southern Indiana.
